Sipho Mabona - Fauno (CP)
I am really stuck with the upper part of the CP (above the redf line) - I don't understand where to add the lines to the nodes with 3 incoming lines. Any help, video, pointers ?

Thanks in advance !

I'll take a shot tonight - thanks for asking
But I also wonder - is it a usual thing to leave out lines from a CP ? I mean, is it obvious to experienced CP folders where they belong ? Or are these lines only missing in my mind
?

Hum, it IS the base I don't quite understand. The CP provided has i.a. nodes with three incoming lines. That is NOT flat foldable. Hence my idea that there are missing lines / shortcuts in the CP which a CP-newb like me cannot follow ?!?origami_8 wrote:A CP only leads you to a (flat foldable) base from where on a lot of details need to be added to arrive at the finished model.

That's because technically should look a little more like this:

I added some creases, and drew over extra creases with white lines.
As you can see, while making the CP technically more correct, the hinge creases are not only annoying to add, but they also do slightly obscure the principal structure. I guess in addition to laziness, this is why box-pleaters tend to leave them out....still, he had a bunch of extra creases too...
Hope that helps!

Thanks a million times !
This is precisely the kind of help I need ! I can follow why people with the an appropriate mix of experience and economy in time would do this, but to a beginner it is confusing. Well, to this one it is
- "but, Captain... it is not logical..."
I'll let you know how far I get. From the looks of it, I think I can now get to the end.
PS :
Anna, not to sound confrontative, but I honestly found little comfort in your comments. If your point was that an experienced CP folder would have no problem, I was under the impressioin that I'd already acknowledged as much. If it was something else, I missed it.

OK, your understanding of "correct" is possibly too different from mine for us to find common ground. For a beginner, as I am, the pragmatic short-cuts are just not "correct" in the sense that there cannot be exactly three incoming lines to a node in a flat base. That is not topologically possible, as in "there's a theorem that says so" - thus "incorrect".
In the worse case, we can civily agree to disagree, I'll leave it at that, I'm off-topic in my own thread

Thanks to your small corrections above, I've finally got to a flat base, which I'd almost given up. I know the differences were tiny for you, but for me it's a world. Thank you again !
I'm not sure I've not messed up the ears yet, but I'll try with a zoomed piece of the CP. No more news from me until I get a halfway decent fold.

None, as far as I know.grizzly man wrote:does exist a diagram for the non-cp-folders?
I also do card models -- http://cutfoldpaste.blogspot.com
There are some creases missing. And it may not be foldable without curving the paper.
