Hi - I am wondering if anyone has tried P Engel's Goose in his book 10 Fold Origami?

No matter what I do I can't seem to get the right result from 8A to 8B using an inside reverse fold. It would be great if someone can advise.

I'm working on this model right now, and I'm finding it tricky to follow the instructions too.

First, if you made it to step 8, do you have any advice on getting from 4 to 4B (assuming you still have the book on hand)? I ended up just trying to approximate the diagram in 5 because I couldn't figure out what he was trying to get me to do in 4.

As for step 8, I just did an inside reverse fold and then folded one side down so it would look like step 9. I was getting pretty frustrated by this point, but my head ended up looking like the one with the white beak, so I was moderately satisfied.

I just tried 8A to 8C a few times, and my goose's neck is kind of mangled now, so I'll have to make a new one to try again. I'll have another crack at step 8 once I sort out step 4.

I pretty much ignore the text in Step 4 - basically I used the 2 fold lines (the valley and the mountain) purely as reference, and then effectively inside reverse where the mountain fold is, and outside reverse where the valley is. This pretty much gives you 4A.

Hope this helps. I'll go back to giving Step 8/9 a try. Might write to Peter Engel and tell him that his 10-steps book is cheating and that the diagrams are really quite confusing!
