:D
the angle from the lower left corner is just 22.5 degree

is rather arbitrary however, different proportions can work as well. I chose this one because it gets the arms, wings, and head/hood in the best proportions

oooh thank you :D
i spent some time with metangas on rizon trying to figure it out.

ps. what were the wrong references you and jared used?

I guess you could alter the graft a bit so that it lies along the 22.5 degree angle BluePaper drew in. You see it would just be a tiny bit off but it should work as well. The same is true for the big upper corner squares.

yes, the graft can be altered. Which was why I was still able to complete the model when I had taught it to Jared :P

Using a larger graft it gets you larger fingers, larger wings, longer legs (robe), but it also lends more paper to the hood. So its really about finding the proper balance between the desired traits :/

anyway, what origami_8 suggested is correct. After I had taught using the incorrect reference, the idea of using different graft came to me. That was actually the first different size I tried, it wasn't bad, so thats another option if you want to try :)

the wrong reference I taught Jared was using the same kind of reference I used for my shrimp http://www.flickr.com/photos/bluepaper/ ... 582621150/ (too lazy to just draw up a new pic lol sorry) with where the two diagonal lines meet becoming the width of the graft

Even something like 10 inches would work, but I'd probably recommend going for something a bit larger :)

Go for it, anyway. You'll learn best from making mistakes. Just don't use expensive paper for the first few attempts. And, use larger paper (15 - 20 in ?), to make it easier on you.

After you collapse it, post some clear pictures, and maybe someone will help out.

the collapse is pretty straightforward. There really aren't any parts that have are all too odd. The part around its waist/top of the dress part thing maybe a bit odd, though. just ask if you need help on that though.

and yes. Do not go straight for your nice paper first. there is a bit of odd shaping and you shouldn't waste your nice paper trying to figure it out XD
