The ladybug from Origami Insects and their Kin - how do you do step 24 ("wrap a single layer to the rear")? I couldn't do it even with a supersized model... it makes no sense at all

Wrapping around is the simple way of putting it. You need to effectively unfold the point, reversing the singly ply of paper so that it winds up on the backside. Trying to do this without unfolding it a little ways will get you ripped up paper every single time.

I unfortunately can't post pictures right now with my limited internet connection, but I will try to walk you through this in detail if my crappy description here does you no help. Just let me know...

unfortunately, this step is exactly what i thought it was. basically it is as oz said; you have to wrap the paper around to do a color change. there's sadly no trick to it (this is often why i dislike lang sequences; there really is no easy or alternative way). just work it slowly and gently, trying not to rip the paper (which you very well might do).

Ummm. I've done plenty of "wrap around"s and never had any problem. Maybe I'm getting step 21 wrong? What does the remark "three layers are on top in the crimp" mean?

To check this you can do only steps 1-3 and then 17-19,21-23, it's a good model for the problem, and the flap in question comes out larger...

not all wrap arounds are equal, just like not all open/closed sinks are equal. in many instances, it's fairly easy to partially unfold the model, which releases some tension (for instance, open sinks where you cannot open the model at all to spread the layers are very difficult to do). here you're literally working with just the head. IIRC, there really isn't a good way to partially unfold the model, so there is no way to relieve tension on the paper, which is why it is somewhat difficult and there is the possibility of a tear. that said there is a possibility of an error earlier on, but IIRC, the model is fairly straightfoward.

OK, the problem was really step 21. Once I got that right, I can do the wrap around (not so easy still, but doable)
