geta by tsuda yoshio - how to get a colour change?

have you ever tried the geta model by tsuda yoshio out of kawasaki's book doctors origami? i would really like to know, how to get a colour change to the stripes you'd stick your toes in if it were a real footwear. the picture in the book does show a colour change while the diagram does not ...
