In the beginning part, Engel mentions a model that at first glance is a simple cube, but if you turn it inside out, it becomes a city. I didn't find any sort of name or designer for it. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Or even better, where diagrams can be found?

This sounds like it might be a reference to Kunihiko Kasahara's "Panorama Box", described in Origami Omnibus.

This is a cube that folds open to reveal a number of smaller cubes which each fold open to reveal a seasonal scene, winter, spring, summer & fall.

I searched, and it's in Extreme Origami. And dang! I was hoping it was from one uncut square! And now I'm not gonna be able to rest until I at least figger out a way to make a (mostly) free square of paper on a "wall" of a cube module!!

Haha let's see which of us makes a better one!! I have a rough idea to get a side and a small square, but if you manage to get the whole panorama box from one uncut sheet, I will bow down before you!!

Conceptually, this might be a box-pleated, tessellation model, where the units are 3D with a little extra structure towards the top, and a partial set of fractal cubes to contain the structures. Each structure doesn't need to be the same, but there should be some obvious symmetry.

J.C. Nolan made a clownfish in anemone, and there are a few different 'peg' tessellations (?) that folks have experimented with....

Chris Palmer's flower tower may provide some ideas....

My only idea so far would end up with a square sticking out on one edge; there'd be 3 free edges. I'm still working on it, however! My main "goal" is to make a square sticking out on just a corner. Haha if I can limit the length of the flap being attached by one side, I could potentially make a bunch of tiny models that would work!! Then, I could have multiple diagrams for the Christmas Book if it's done again!! 1. How to make the basic unit. 2-n. Diagrams for the "limited" origami!! Nah, I'd probably just post the basic unit and a few mini-models, then add more to the book (if there is one, of course!!)

Sounds like enough stuff for an own book in itself.

Haha if I can get it all done, that is!! That'd also be neat if I could manage to get a book published!! I'd probably drop a few small diagrams here for you guys (and girls)

I've come up with design 1. It will definitely be redone. The flap sticks up right dead center, and the thing overall is just really thick and impractical.
