Recently got into doing origami, working on making some begginer stuff, and getting better at making cranes and such and wanted to try harder stuff but having some trouble understanding and doing this pattern, my friend wants me to do one but i just can't wrap my head around some of these folds, if anyone could help out with better directions or a video or something it would be awesome :3

original directions : http://www.opane.com/tarepanda.html

ok brother.....this is fairly simple origami....buy a book or do some research into types of origami folds..mountain valley squash sink petal swivel....etc etc, then retry this model once you are familiar with these techniques. i hate to be the one to tell you but this design is VERY SIMPLE and you should be able to figure it out after a little bit of practice. good luck!

Yep, the diagram looks simple and well done - you don't need "better directions", you need to practice.

Hello, I just registered to this website to get some help on this topic. I'm doing the same tutorial and although it seems fine and easy I get stuck after the bit that says insert the shade area. So what is that shade area? I'm clueless about origami but I was following the steps and I was ok up to there. I wouldn't buy a book as is suggested in this topic just for that, so could any of you nice people please explain? Thank you!

The shade area is the part of the model that is painted lightly grey. I haven't folded the model, but would guess from the diagram that you have to grab this flap and tuck it into a pocket below.
