Dragonfly Opus 453- Robert Lang

I am currently undertaking a solution to this CP. I am having some trouble interpreting this crease pattern. I dont think it lies flat, and I would like anyone to explain how to solve this. I checked the forum, so far I have found no topics about it.

Here is the area I am talking about:

The circled region in the upper left doesn't seem to make any sense.

Also, if this middle bit can lay flat, I will eat the piece of paper I am currently folding.

The circled region on the bottom left is not solvable either I think.

Just so we are clear, I have precreased the whole pattern, and I have managed to partially collapse it to a point where it can lay flat. However, the regions I have circled dont make any sense. I would really appreciate any help. I am on a dragonfly kick right now.

The center line, and the vertical lines on the left side, are all references at 1/8 intervals. Not actually creases. You'll note they don't appear on the right side of the pattern. The horizontal lines labelled "WTH?" aren't creases either-- they're part of the circle-packing. There are a couple other places where the correct mountain/valley designations are not applied on a hinge crease, but you can probably figure that out.

This totally lies flat, though. Most of Robert Lang's representational designs go through a flat uniaxial base at some point.

I realized that the vertical line that passes through the topmost circled region is just a guide line, but the middle crease is too? That cant be right, it is the same color as the other solid lines. I am going to start over (again) and take some pictures, then you can see where and how I have botched it.

The left side of the CP is a simplified version that also shows reference points. The right side is more accurate. All of those thinning folds on the right also need to be done in a mirror image on the left. This may be what is throwing you off on the "center" intersection. As for the flat-foldability of the CP, as Andrew said, it does not show every mountain and valley fold exactly accurately. If your m/v arrangement doesn't match up perfectly with Lang's, don't worry.
