Eric makes very few diagrams, he very seldom diagrams his complex/sculpted models, and if he gave a crease pattern, I think that means he doesn't intend to diagram it.

If you really want to fold it, I advise you to learn to fold from CPs. Afterwards, if you try to fold Self Made Man and get stuck, you can contact him. He's usually willing to give some indications or advice on his designs, but only if you have already tried to fold it by yourself...

Where is the CP of the self-made-man?

I can't find it on Erics' website. He's got CPs of the dwarf, mermaid and out of geometry, if you mean one of those?

The CP on Joisel's site is for Out of Geometry, not Self-Made Man. The best you will get is Andrey Ermakov's reverse-engineered CP that can be found here. Joisel in particular does not diagram his stuff. That is the way he chooses to do things, for whatever reason. If you want to fold a lot of designs, particularly the more obscure ones, it is a good idea to learn to fold from CPs.

Oh! You mean the middle picture to the left of the dwarf cp. That is actually the base for the dwarf. What you can see of the square part becomes the body and jacket of the dwarf. Sorry to disappoint :?

There are two different versions of the CP for the Self-made man: one by Artur Biernacki and another by Andrey Ermakov. You can find both of them on the web.

I'm working in that model since a month ago or so (I'm doing lots of other stuff so I'm not working on that full time =P) and I only solved two simple CPs before, but this one is quite easy if you know how to fold the dwarf. Furthermore, I think many models by Eric Joisel are done in the same way, as modifications of the bases or so, so it can be helpful to continue with other similar models, as the mermaid, for instance.

I have some photos of the one folded by another guy who taught me some tips for this. It allowed me to continue my personal researching.

I collapsed the base and then I tried to develop an acceptable solution for each part separately before ruining my collapsed base =P

For now I started folding the head in the collapsed base, and the result is not as good as I expected, but I'll give some more tries to it if necessary.

Well, if you want to see the photographs I said before just let me know.

Good luck!

I gave this model a shot and am curious to know if anyone can provide an image of the back (of the completed model). I think I've seen one out there before but can no longer find it.
