I saw this video on the you tube, but its very hard to see how to make the units.

Sorry, I don't know who the author is but I found the instructions in the video pretty clear. This one I folded in May:

The units are by Rona Gurkewitz and Bennett Arnstein

You can find a diagram on Gurkewitz and Arnstein's "3-D Geometric Origami - Modular Polyhedra" on page 39

It's basically Rona Gurkewitz's Spike module using a equilateral triangle
