Looking for specific kusudama

Post by jadylyon »

This is a long shot, but maybe somebody recognizes this. I'm looking to make this kusudama for a friend of mine (heaven forbid I keep it for myself) and I KNOW I've seen the instructions somewhere. I've gone through all my kusudama links though and for the life of me, I can't find it again.

I know it's made of three pieces per "flower" and I think the grand total of folded pieces required was 60 x 3 = 180.

Does anybody know this one or who made it?

I think this was made by just combining three traditional kusudama pieces, in different stages of folding, for each flower.

A while ago I made a video that might help you figure this out:

http://www.artisbellus.com/2011/02/kusu ... video.html

The white part looks like a traditional kusudama piece. (like the flower in the video)
The pink part seems to be the same, but just unfolding the tips that go inside the flower. (like the leaves in the video)
For the yellow part, just do all the folding but stop before turning the paper inside out. (up to 4:30 aprox in the video). Then spread it.

The pink and white paper seems to be of the same size, and the yellow one a little smaller.

I hope this helps.

Okay, I think it's two thirds right! Thanks for the help, the outer petals and first inner flower are just what you said but the inside seems different. I folded a couple during lunch and I did play around with squashing the inside "stamen" area but it doesn't look the same. Am I missing something obvious, or is the center part folded a different way do you think?

I think that the central part should be inserted, so that the center of the initial square goes inside the flower. Looking at your picture it looks that you did the other way around, and the center of the paper it's on the top (the part that you squashed). May be it's that?

I came to that conclusion too, turned it around so the bottom was up and the up was down and voila, i have flowers that match the picture. Terrific! Thanks for your help, my friend will be so pleased.
