Origami Base Search

Post by Harpseal »

Anyway, if you're looking for a base to design a model ask here, and hopefully other people will suggest bases of their own creation or otherwise that you could use. If that doesn't work, then we can just build up a database of bases. This will probably only be useful to people without treemake, but people with treemake will probably be able to help effectively. Also, feel free to share pictures of your finished models with the base used so people can see how a base can work.

Preliminary base is a much better name than square base.

Exactly what is a stretched frog base? I've never heard of it.

And, as Robert Lang pointed out in ODS, it's really a Preliminary FOLD, not a base.

Oh, so that's a pig base. I didn't know what a stretched frog base was either.

I wouldn't call that an independent base, though--it has the same flap arrangement as that of a bird base.

If you take a frog base and pull each one of its flaps so that the little triangle in each one of them stretches and flattens, you get a stretched frog base.

Fold or base, whatever, but still preliminary instead of square.

It could differ because the ways of making it differ.
There's the way wher you just collapse all the corners together, and the one where you fold the paper in half diagonally and press-fold the identical corners.
The first one i mentioned will probably be described as a fold, and the second one a base.
