Marvel and DC comics origami

Post by Harpseal »

On the release of marvel's most recent film, The Avengers Assemble, i was expecting a huge rush of marvel- related models being invented, however i haven't seen this, which was suprising, so i'm looking for marvel (or DC) models. The obvious one to start with is Brian Chan's iron man, and his mask, with things like his batman, but if anyone has invented american comic book heroes origami, please share it here!
Also, if you haven't seen the Avengers Assemble yet, you really should. It is awesome.

There are many versions of Batman out there, a batman face, and several full-bodied Batman models, from what I recall off the top of my head.

EDIT: A simple search on Gilad's Gallery got me this page: http://www.giladorigami.com/PG_Batman.html
Read the captions for where you can get several different models (Joker's face, Batman's face, Batman, etc.).
EDIT2: Another simple search on Gilad's site got me a superman: http://www.giladorigami.com/PG_Cartoons.html
(scroll about 3/4ths down)
A tiny place to post my things. Enjoy~

How about Brian Chan's (or who was it?) Iron Man? Though I heard the CP is not so good. Looks good, though, but it'd look weird if you don't have red/yellow paper.

Did i mention that model in this threads' first post? I am making it at the moment, as most people will know by now, seeing as i have been over-voicing it all over this forum while i got together all the production and pre-production info.

:?: oh well. I'm inventing the silver surfer at the moment. I have made one draft, and it will take many many more to complete it. It is very assymetrical and if i was to draw it a cp, no one could (probably) make it because of how strange it is mathematically. It uses box pleating and the 22.5 degree method.

Who is the silver surfer anyways? Is he that dude from the Incredible (or what's that adjective) 4?

Fantastic 4- it's alliteration.
Human torch, captain fantastic (stretchy guy), invisible woman and the thing. I'd love to see an origami the thing! That would be clever!

Sounds pretty cool--I'd love to see it when you finish it!

I have a few ideas in mind, actually. I might try one and see how it works out.

Baltorigamist, you think you may actually know or have an idea of how to make the thing? Wow. You'd not only have to get each individual rock, but you'd need to put them into a bulky humanoid shape with a face (or a place where one would be) and shorts. I'm sort of voicing (or typing) the challenge. It sounds (or reads) seriously hard.

I'm still not sure if I'll ever actually decide to devote my time and energy to making The Thing, but it seems conceptually simple to me. I would most likely use a combination of tessellations and circle-packing with a bit of color-change thrown in for good measure.
Granted, I'm not that familiar with the Fantastic 4 anyway, but I have heard of them and I have a basic idea of what they look like. If I decide to design him, I'll get ref pictures.

Yeah, just it's a pudgy orange humanoid covered in rocks, not a big grey rocky snake. Also, onix doesn't have a dreadful catchphrase (apart from oooaaoonmniiiiicckkkssss(pronounced O-a-N-i-CK-ss)).
