Looking for a new modular unit

I fold lots of modular origami (http://www.flickr.com/photos/origamibucket/) primarily Tom Hull's Phizz units (probably done 20-30,000 so far). I'm looking for a new unit to play around with, I like using Phizz as they have a strong lock and can be used to make a variety of shapes, however for some things (like my turtle http://www.flickr.com/photos/origamibuc ... hotostream) I would prefer a more solid unit. I've tried Sonobe and some variants but they don't hold up well when you make septagons, octagons and larger. I've seen some mention of Tom Hull making a Phizz Sonobe hybrid unit, but it mentioned it was unpublished, but that was back in 2008. Does anyone know if this unit has been published? (book, website, anything?) or does anyone have a recombination for a unit to try out that I could use? Something that locks well, capable of 7+ sided arrangements, and results in a solid rather than a skeletal frame.

Buy one of Meenakshi Mukerji's books, or download the free diagrams from her site.

Tomoko Fuse has some interesting modules in her books "Unit Polyhedron Origami" and "Origami Quilts" as well as some others, that can be used to make larger structures.
You might also want to check out Denver Lawson's book "Unusual Modulars": http://www.origami-shop.com/en/origami- ... 2_368.html
Robert J. Lang has a very interesting article about Polypolyhedra starting with FIT-units: http://www.langorigami.com/science/comp ... yhedra.php

Max Hulme`s Pixel Unit is awesome as far as holding together goes. I have made a can coolie and cig pack from it.
It is in the 2009 USA Convention book, along with directions on how to make a shoulder bag out of 256 of them.
There is also a Mario pic that i made from 244 of them in my gallery.
