A Game of Rhombic Dodecahedrons

Hello Origami Enthusiasts,
There is a game called rombo which I would like to make that requires me to make tons of rhombic dodecahedrons. As I was pining on how I could get the shapes just right I realized that this might be something origami folks are more familiar with.
Is anyone familiar with making this shape? Is there a folding pattern which will give me just one of the diamond sides out of a perfect square? Is this entire shape possible to construct with using origami?
In the end it would be great to have perfect diamond sides for this pattern so that I can apply it to wood or metal or something since I'll be using magnets inside (or some other fastening property).
I'm still working out the logistics of course so I'm really open to any input. Thanks for reading!
