Hello guys
hi I am mohit dandekar
In terms of skill level i am a advanced folder having acomplished models like kade chan's werewolf and joisel's rat. I wish to start folding insects so please suggest me good challenging models that could help me start folding insects?

Hello Mohit,
I would consider you an intermediate, but I will tell you some insects. Robert Lang's website has ton's of insect CPs, and Flickr.com has some users with plently of CP's. You can go to flickr (you don't need an account to search) and go to the search bar and type "Origami Insect CP's". And if you can't do CP's, then it is gonna cost you about $20 to $50 for an insect book.

If you have about 70$ you could get Lang's origami insects 2.
its a great book.

Or, for a whole lot less, buy Insects And Their Kin off Amazon. It's a LOT easier. (Actually my first origami book, too.)

for beginner insects, Robert Lang is the COMPLETELY WRONG decision.
try to get a John Montroll Book, it should be way easier to follow that Lang's models.

good point, after reading through a lot of origami insects 2, its almost impossible for me (and i've been folding insects and origami for 10+ years)

It is a good point about doing some Montroll stuff, but I don't know how many insect designs he has. There're a couple in Sculptures, plus he has a moth and stink bug somewhere.
But IATK has 20 models with a range of difficulty (i.e. the Treehopper vs the Butterfly or Stag Beetle), plus it's relatively cheap.

So your saying you've folded insects since you were 5? (You told us your age in a previous thread)

I worded that wrong, sorry.
I have been folding origami since i was about 5, maybe a little younger. I started folding insects around age...8 or nine maybe?
but they were simple. mostly the ones found in lang's old (like from '95-'99) books. some of the ones found in dev.origami.com also.

Have you folded Anibal Voyer's Wasp? I found the diagrams online a while ago, but I can't remember where I found them. It's a pretty easy model, though.

I have. I actually folded it out of a 6 inch kami, and that was a challenge.

I did a bit searching and bought the Montroll's "Bugs and Birds in origami"
when i am through with it i will start with Lang's Insects and their Kin"
