Re: Jang Yong Ik's models
i don't know. i love his models, and i would love to fold them, but i can find neither a crease pattern or diagram for anything but his umbrella released publically. The ones I would really be interested in folding are his honey bee (v1, i don't like the updated one as much) and his American Truck. the umbrella cp, found in his photostream, is fairly easy to solve. just a bunch of angle bisectors. those strange little triangle creases are inside reverse folds, i make the first ones during the collapse, unfold it, and the continue those to make the next ones. i never bothered to shape it yet, though.
you probably figured that out already, though.
Ok, so what I have unearthed so far is this:
Umbrella: Flickr page
Honey bee: Creased magazine, issue 5 (CP only)
I know he has a CP or diagram for his tank, american truck, and spinosaurus somewhere but i have not found them yet.

Re: Jang Yong Ik's models
I hate to bring up an old topic I started but... How do you know that there are CPs of the tank, American truck and spinosaurus? I have seen one person fold the tank, from CP, but i have no clue where the CP is.I have his email right in front of me, but he doesn't answer it, so it's hard to contact him.
I agree, his models are amazing, but hard to find CPs to fold them with.
Thanks
Jake

Re: Jang Yong Ik's models
Thank you very much for leading me to this guys flickr, he sure has alot of stunning designs, it would be really great if he made some diagrams. I'm afraid I can't help you with the diagrams and CP, but man, reindeer, shark, rooster, one of the best elephants, that bee is incredible aswell. That Ju Jak, dragon/bird model is insane!

Re: Jang Yong Ik's models
Yes they are spectacular! I managed to find his telescope CP. it was hiding in the last page of my JOAS special edition 2011.

Re: Jang Yong Ik's models
sorry, I haven't been very active in the forum lately. to answer your question, I am speculating they have crease patterns, as I have seen other people besides him fold them. I'm certain crease patterns exist for all of his models, as they are to complex to reach simply by trial and error folding. Just don't know how many are published.
If I were you, I'd shoot him an email in Korean asking if you could have some of his crease patterns, or if he could direct you to where they are published. Its worth a try. You could always private message him on flickr, also.
anyways - yes, his models are really amazing. he's one of the most skilled designers out there, and I agree, he should make some diagrams. I would fold more of his models if he did.

Re: Jang Yong Ik's models
A few things.
I have one more CP that I have found to add to the list: Butterfly. If anyone would like the link or a picture, I'll email it. I have found it on part of his blog.
So our list so far is... That have CPs that are available..
Telescope
Honey Bee
Umbrella
Butterfly
Tank ( can't find it though )
---------
I emailed redpaper to see if he knows anything about the CPs... He told me some shocking information. He said that Jang went to the "army of Korea" ... That was six months ago.
He has a section on his blog labeled "CP". I do not know if anything is in it. It seems empty. I'll search it tomorrow.
He must have CPs though.. It would be pretty hard not to.
Phillip: I am certain you are correct, that everyone of his models contain CPs. I know his tank has a cp, I've seen people fold it and he taught it!
Thanks
Jake
