Central Florida club idea suggestions

Hi,
Recently, I've been thinking of extending the central florida's group FOLD and to hopefully attract a wider variety of members. We currently have our monthly meetings every 3rd Monday in the Orlando Library. It's very quiet, and I enjoy going to it when I have the time, but unless you really enjoy origami, it might seem stale after awhile. So I was thinking if sometimes we can have meetings in a tea house/coffee shop. Would that be a good idea? It'll be a bit more lively and make the club more visible. Have people tried meetings in "the outside world"? Any suggestions? I by no means want to take over FOLD, but I do want to open the group up a bit more. I'm most likely going to the meeting this month and hopefully get a feedback on what they think. Thanks! :P

I recently joined CAPS in central Ohio-and by that I mean I have been to one of the monthly meetings. Up until that last meeting, the group had been meeting in a Starbucks, but switched to a library meeting room after the group exceeded a reasonable size for the Starbucks. If your meetings are small enough to reasonably meet in a coffee shop, go ahead-but it might even be a good idea to ask the owner first.

That's a good point, but so far size isn't a problem. I remember when I was still in Pittsburgh 3 years ago, their beginner's club was quite a decent size with lots of children and parents. We met at the library, and I think that worked out quite well. We met in an open area or in a relatively large room with nice lighting from the outside. And now... to think about advertising... :)
