which forum members are going to join and does someone know what's going to be taught by the star guests: robert lang, sipho mabona, sharon turvey? may be a member plans to give a workshop, too - what will it be about?

Hi,
I'm absolutely new to this forum (this is my first post) and this is one of the things I was looking for. I will go to the convention and like you I have now plan of what will happen there. Erkner is only 1 hour away from Potsdam, so I had to register for this event. Its the first time I'm visiting an origami convention and I am both enthusiastic and nervous about it.

Please tell me more!!

Like I told before in a different topic, I will be there.
You will see what everyone is going to teach as soon as the model menu on the convention is shown. At the moment I don't know if I will give an official workshop, it depends if someone asks me.
When going to a convention you should always bring some folded models with you as well as paper. Usually there will be a shop selling books and paper but it is always good to bring your own stuff.
Origami Deutschland meetings are always very nice with lots of free folding. Usually there are about 200 attendees. On all conventions I attended so far there was one special model that everyone folded, some kind of convention hit. You can't tell beforehand what it will be, but you can be sure that there will be such a model.

Thank you for the hints! I thought of taking paper with me but wouldn't have taken folded models. Why should I do it and what kind of models are the best ones - own designs or others? I'm no Origami-master, my folds are not that special and my own designs are only some pieces of modular origami.

Oh, another question: What kind of paper should I take with me? What size do I need? I've got cheap 16x16cm paper, is it enough?

Kalami, believe it or not but Origami people are always interested in what you fold. About the model choice, it's up to you, but if you have own models I would prefer them over others. Bring things that you think turned out very good, things you are proud of. There will be a display area, where you can put them, so everyone can see them. What paper to bring is a hard question, it depends a lot on what you're going to fold. It doesn't really help to advice you bringing big thin paper if you plan to fold modulars only on the other hand if you want to make insects or more complex stuff you wouldn't be well advised with small identical paper with a good grip. If you don't know what you are going to fold yet, I'd say bring a good mixture of the papers you usually use. Sometimes it can also be helpful to have a small stock of A4 paper and something you don't bother to write on (I know that's hard, but it happens that you want to make you some notes on a model or give someone your phone number).

please excuse my lazyness. i have to admit that i didn't search for a similar topic before starting that of my own.
i'm going to join the convention, too. will i have to pay my bill for joining in advance or is it possible to pay in place?

Looks like it was a great event lots of diverse & original models.

I really liked Roberto Romero's flying car, that precise tesselation by Ralf Konrad and Sharon Turvey's display, especially that skeleton.
Everyone did look a bit terrified at Sipho Mabona's workshop though (?)

PS: Oh, on the Origami Austria pages, the captions on the photo's "Workshop with Anna Kastlunger - Spiral Box (by Himself)", seems unnecessarily unflattering!

@ InsomniacFolder: believe me, we weren't terrified at the workshop. It was a great fun to fold the tiger, although we had no foil-paper.

well, coming from south america, I was there too

I met great people and assisted to great workshops also. Maybe some of you saw me there, I was the short dark figure carrying the Origami Chile participation
