Thai Origami Club

Post by ThaiOrigamiClub »

Hello everybody,
My name is Pom, 28, Thai Origami Club co-founders. I've been doing origami since five years old. However, the origami movement in Thailand has always been slow and often limited to folding a paper crane. Fortunately, the internet enable us to find more information, diagrams and origami communities around the world.

Last year, I and my friends established Thai Origami Club (online) in November. We are trying to catch up with you guys and, hopefully, we will be accepted by world-class community like yours one day.

Currently, we have 1500+ members already, mostly beginners. There are only a few of us that can read Satoshi Kamiya's diagram or Lang's very complex diagram. Crease Pattern is considered very advanced here.

@ Vietnam Origami Group: As you are from the same region, your comment would be precious to us. Would it be possible that someone from Vietnam Origami Group can write us an email so that we can share? I always wonder how you guys create such a strong origami community there.

Lastly, below are our works: Lord Ganesh (the Hindu elephant god) is the god of all arts and science, my first original design. Tapir is our second original design (designed by one of our members). Hojyo Takashi's Violinist is folded by me - one of my all time favourite.

Thai Origami Club has just started in Nov 2008. You may have not heard about us but we have appreciated this community for many years. You guys are awesome and always be our inspiration. Thank you so much.

Congratulations for building up a new community. You already have a lot of members and I'm curious to see your improvement over the next couple of years.

The Lord Ganesh and Tapir are very good. Hopefully you are thinking about releasing diagrams?

Welcome.
1500 members, that is excellent news.
Don't worry, crease patterns seem very complex to many people everywhere - like me!
The Tapir is really very beautifully done.
Is Lord Ganesh from a single sheet? It's a clever construction for the trunk and ears.
VOG members do visit quite often - try looking for Adams Chen (viewtopic.php?t=1369) or Pham Ngoc Tuan(viewtopic.php?t=4951) and commenting on their work, they usually reply (eventually!)

Happy folding to all in Thailand, and hope to see more of your work soon.
