Request for Prior Consent Diagrams for Origami 4 Charity

Post by NumboJumbo »

I am running a project at the moment, called ‘Origami 4 Charity’ (O4C for short) http://webspace.webring.com/people/gn/n ... harity.htm which provides just under 70 suggestions for ways in which origami can be used to benefit worthy charities.

As part of the evolution of the project, the list of ideas now needs origami diagrams/models which could be used copyright free (sort of), so that people could use them to benefit worthy causes with the knowledge that there is already prior consent to use the models for such purposes. I’m hoping that this will be one step closer in making it easier for people to use origami for such charitable purposes.

To this effect then, it is my intention to provide such a list of models that have this prior consent on the O4C webpage and I’m therefore wondering whether anybody would be gracious enough to donate their models to such a project. BTW, I’m not asking you to give up your copyright to your creation, all I’m asking for is prior consent so that it removes a potential stumbling block for people having to be bothered to contact the creators of a model. So, the mention of a model in this list will be taken that the person who wishes to use the model for charitable purposes does not need to contact the creator to seek permission. Of course, if you wish, there will still be a way to contact you just out of courtesy to inform you that your model will be used for such and such a charitable purpose.

To kick start this part of the O4C project off, I have donated all of the models http://webspace.webring.com/people/gn/n ... harity.htm that I have created (for what they’re worth) for charitable purposes and will be stating so on the O4C webpage.

Is anybody else willing to donate their models with prior consent to my O4C project? If so, I hope you will respond to my request above.

I have only diagrammed one model, my Plesiosaurus, but if someone can find a charitable use for the model I would be more than happy to let it be used that way.

Thanks for all your responses so far and a big collective thankyou to you all for sharing your diagrams. I'll respond below:

PauliusOrigami: Thanks for sharing your photos which are simply quite stunning, especially the 2mm crane. The only diagram I could spot was your 'Eagle Ray', which I'm in the process of contacting Sara Adams of http://www.happyfolding.com to get permission from her to link to your diagram, which is included on her site.

Zoraz: Is there a web link to your Plesiosaurus?

origamifreak: Look forward to receiving news about your Mr Krabs. Looked at your pics and wished I had the patience to fold tthe stuff you do.

Part of the evolution of my Origami4Charity project will be to make some of the ideas on my site more accessible and easier to do, so that some if not most of the legwork has already been done. Expect to see a redesign of the O4C webpage sometime in the future as I reign in some of the ideas to make them more accessible.

Thanks for posting my model! Actually, would you mind replacing "Zoraz" with my real name, just to avoid any confusion from outside the forum? Sending it to you in a PM.
