Hey All,

I plan to go to the CDO Convention in Italy this year, and was wondering who else is coming. See http://www.origami-cdo.it/cdo/convegno/conv09en.htm
Also, I'll probably arrive in Milan Malpensa on Saturday, 5th December at 12:25. If anyone's arriving at that time, maybe we can travel to the convention together. Hilli Zenz will arrive 2 hours earlier, and if we find two more people or so, maybe it'd be most convenient to share a taxi.

Just let me know if you're interested. And feel free to shout "Yes, I'm coming, too! I'm so excited!" in this thread.

Also, I think I'll teach something, but I'm not sure which model might prove especially interesting. If you're coming, do you have any models you'd like to see in a session?

Italian Conventions are fun

I'm considering teaching (some of) the following:

1. Llopio's Moment of Truth by Neil Elias
I know it's hard to get a hold of the diagrams, and it is quite astonishing to see what Neil Elias did back at the beginning days of box-pleating.
One big disadvantage of this model is that it starts with a sheet of paper that has strange dimensions: 1 by 2 5/6
I'd probably make some tissue paper and cut it to the required size, but preparing many sheets might get a bit expensive (you need to start with quite big sheets). I think the paper should be at least the size that I used for this one: http://www.happyfolding.com/gallery-eli ... of_truth_2 (13.5cm x 38.25cm)
I'm guessing it'd be a longish session, too.

2. Apple by Shuzo Fujimoto
This is also an old design, for which diagrams are hard to get. The model is simple to fold, and you can use standard kami, 15cm works fine. See http://www.happyfolding.com/gallery-fujimoto-apple

3. Eagle by myself
I'm not convinced this is a good one to teach, but given that it's my first design I thought I might as well suggest it. Again, you can fold it from 15cm kami, although slightly bigger might be helpful. Again, it's a model that's quite simple. Thoughts? Preferences?
I'd have to ask Dave V. about teaching Neal Elias' model, but think he'd be ok with it. But I'm not certain it's that suitable.

Simplifying suggestion:

I've never folded The Moment of Truth, but I believe it might be easier to go with the instructions in BOS #10, to start with a 1:3 rectangle, then cut or tear to the right size in class.

.... However, I like your video for The Last Waltz, better than the diagrams... so I'm not going to push the issue...

I'm coming too - very excited about it! the CDO convention is by far the best I have ever attended, and I enjoy it very much :)

I'll be arriving in Verbania on Thursday, Dec 3rd, so if you are coming earlier maybe we can meet up. I'll be around.

Looking forward to meeting some of you for the first time, and seeing some of you again after a long year apart!

I don't know if I am teaching this time, but most likely I will be... undecided on that right now.

I'm considering buying the CDO 2009 convention book for Terry Nicolas' site. Are there models in there, other than Satoshi's Minotaur, that are of high quality (not necessarily complexity but I do favour complex folding)? A list of models authors would be great. Photos (or links to photo's) would also be appreciated.
