Ok, step 11 - 12,
well, that's what's called a petal fold,
basically, while you are folding the bottom middle flap down (with the triangle shape creases), you fold the left flap to the right,. That bottom middle flat should form a V shape because of the creases already there. You make 2 folds at the same time.
If you just push down the bottom middle flap the petal fold should appear on it's own.
If you look up petal fold on the web that might help you as well.
Hope this will help!
This is the petal fold, commonly found in the Flapping Bird - just like Sebyfrog said. If you are a beginning folder, it may be difficult to follow the diagrams (but the fold itself is not hard, after you do the precreasing).
In Step 11, there are 4 folds to precrease:
A. The vertical Valley fold on the left - fold and unfold (for the moment).
B & C. The diagonal Mountain Folds on the left and on the right. - Fold/unfold
D. The horizontal Valley fold at the bottom - fold and unfold.
Now that you have precreased all of the folds, fold all four of them at the same time:
A. Put your index finger at the top of the triangle formed by the two diagonal Mountain folds.
B. With your other hand, book fold the flap along the vertical Valley fold. C. At the same time that you do the book fold, You are going to pull that triangular flap down with your index finger, pivoting on the horizontal Valley fold on the bottom. (I'm not quite sure how the right side collapses)
D. The resulting, petal-folded triangular flap will close with half under the book fold, and half on the right side.
In Step 12, Fold the right side of the petal fold to the left.
After you precrease, it is really much easier to do, than it is to describe or to read about.
Hey HankSimon we are thinking the same but I can't visualize what happens in this step:
"B. With your other hand, book fold the flap along the vertical Valley fold. C. At the same time that you do the book fold, You are going to pull that triangular flap down with your index finger, pivoting on the horizontal Valley fold on the bottom. (I'm not quite sure how the right side collapses)"Can you upload videos at youtube.com on how to do that step(maybe the whole model:better )Please???
