Black footed ferret by Ares Alanya
Hello, I was looking around at crease patterns and found the black footed ferret CP. I decided that the design looked simplistic enough and decided to try it(as my first). I am really regretting that decision but pride keeps me going at it. Anyone mind pointing out why something so seemingly simple has kept me baffled? I assume aggravation is making me gloss over something simple.

Re: Black footed ferret by Ares Alanya
it's in his flickr account.
as a general rule of thumb, if a model looks complex, but the cp looks "simple," it generally means you have a lot of shaping to do on your own. good examples of this include takashi hoyjo's matraiya (the cp is in kamiya's second book and looks ridiculously simple). this also seems to hold true of ares' models--the t.rex cp looks simple but the actual diagrams are pretty long.
you could always post a comment in ares' flickr asking him for help. eric madrigal has also solved the cp. they both post in these forums, but only rarely.

Re: Black footed ferret by Ares Alanya
Thanks for the help and sorry for not having linked it, I can handle some shaping on my own, and thought I would try here first to see if anyone else had solved it, so as not to disturb Ares. Crease Patterns, glad that I didn't find any back when I first started origami at around 10 or so, would have driven myself nuts working on it, least now I can say that 3 sheets of paper that got shredded from constant manipulation is my limit before I set it aside and try to figure out more before diving back in.
Re: Black footed ferret by Ares Alanya
the diagrams to this model are now available in the 7th issue of 4 esquinas.
Re: Black footed ferret by Ares Alanya
so... diagrams are available for this fine model... for free... and nobody wants to give it a shot? weird.

the curves actually remind me of komatsu's fox. a fun sequence, ppl should give it a try.

Re: Black footed ferret by Ares Alanya
I really like Ares Alanya's designs and I will probably fold this soon. The problem for me is finding/making the right paper for color changed models.
