I was just fiddling around with box pleating today, and I think that if you just divide a paper into a grid, and just start doing some Elias stretches, you'll end up with a tree! After a bit of practice you should be able to produce a nice tree. I'm gonna give it a try later and see what i can come up with.

Its not so hard to make a box pleated tree. in fact, my second box pleated model was a tree, that you can see here

The photos dont make justice, the original is much better. But the only thing you have to make its to put some points in the center for the roots, a river for the trunk and lots of points for the branches. Accurancy its not necesary, because a tree its not accurate.

Since joisel does box pleating in many of his models i would bet that is a method used
