Grid for Crease Pattern

It's a Darth Vader head. It looked fairly simplistic enough to me, considering I have seen CP's that looked a lot harder. Now I'm a little discouraged ... I really thought this might be a good starter, and my son loves Darth Vader. It's the only thing I could find regarding origami and that character where there was a CP involved.

Regarding the fact that some of the Creases end in nowhere and the model seems to be completely 3D I guess that Jared is right with saying that this is no good beginner CP. This CP is not flat collapsible. Making the full grid doesn't seem necessary to me, yet again I haven't seen a picture of the final model. If you want to try it non the less, you might try it with paper that has the same colour on both sides, that way it doesn't matter whether you take the blue or the red Creases as mountain.

Please enlighten us where you found the model, that may lead to better advice from our side apart from the fact that not mentioning the author is disrespectful.

The author gave me this CP but is working on a new design, because he was really hard on himself about the look of the current model, so he wanted me to try it out, but he is making a new one. I think he is just being too hard on himself, and it is a very nice design and the resemblance is the best I have seen on the web. Any suggestions? The model doesn't look too hard to try considering there's not a lot of detail involved.

Well, this Crease Pattern is more an approximation than really a hundred percent folding guide. Personally I wouldn't fold the grid at all but just guess where the Creases should be. Just pinch them in and then look at the final model as how to shape it. If you consider the upper side of the paper is coloured the red Creases are Valley and the Blue Creases are Mountain folds. There's a lot of shaping involved, not to say this whole model is all about shaping. Good luck!

I agree that it looks like a rough guide to getting the approximate shape, and then there is the details. I figured it would be fairly simple considering he has a mask and I can pinch in the details.
