Monthly Folding Challenge: October 2011

Pretty obvious as to what base I used, but for those who are wondering it's a waterbomb base.

Not excessively complex, not excessively clean folded.

Waterbomb dragonfly.





Tail is the centre point, the four wings are the corner. Make four crimps to generate eight target points near the centre - these become the six legs and antennae. The rest of the model is simple narrowing - a lot easier than it looks. The model is formed from a water-bomb base, with no need to unfold the basic form at any point!

The dragonfly, Gachepapier's folded face, and the rooster are all amazing. I will be hard pressed to compete with these entries.

Hi! This is my first post ...and the first time I've tried making origami without a pattern to go by! But I thought I would give it a go (although it pales in comparison to what others post on here... I feel vastly inferior to say the least). I used the waterbomb base, hopefully I didn't break any rules! It's a fox, supposedly.

So, heh, this is my first post in 5 years, and my second ever. But now that I have a new camera and a challenge I think I have a half-decent shot at winning... Well, here goes.

I folded a pair of goldfish designs, both from frog bases. In both cases, I sunk the center point and used the resulting layers in different ways. The first one is a generic mishmash of goldfishy traits. With the second, I was trying for a (very stylized) rendition of the Black Moor breed of goldfish.

And if I'm breaking some rules with the sink or with the little bit of unwrapping in the Black Moor... well, then it's from a square base.
