Video: Origami (the japanese tradition)

Post by ahudson »

Maybe some of you have already seen this, but I found an excellent video on youtube about origami:

I liked the "artistic" video instructions for the "peace on earth" model, but I got stuck right after the pleat-sink... Can anybody help me with that? YouTube doesn't give enough resolution to see what he's doing at that point....

By the way, does anybody know who the guys folding are? I haven't met any of the big-time Japanese paperfolders, and it's hard to recognize them from pictures... :?

After the pleat-sink, it is simply a matter of doing a compound reverse fold maneuver while wrapping some layers of paper to the front. Note that some inner layers will get rearranged in this process resulting in some swivel folds to make the paper lie flat. It is a little tricky at first, but things should fall into place once you realize what's going on. I hope I helped-that is truly a brilliant model!
