Manuel Sirgo - Walking Stick Leaf (CP)
I had a blast with the walking stick so decided to try this variation. I'm pretty new to crease patterns (in fact I really just figured out how to do them yesterday) and I'm not familiar with the little diamond-square like structures in the middle-outside of the model ( coordinates on crease pattern at (1/2, 1/4); (1/4,1/2) and the other two up by the point split for the antenna). Are they just crimps for the flared legs, or just the equivalent of "swing this point out"?

Im just trying to learn CPs my self so cant offer my help at the mo.
But I made this model yesterday via the diagrams published in Tanteidan Convention Book 12. Dont know if you have a copy but mabe you could look though the diagrams and see how it goes? just an Idea but I know there are plenty of others who can help point you in the right direction.
Good luck with your model.
kind regards
Steve

The way I have Folded this model is to do this:
1. Pre-crease all the creases on the cp.
2. Collapse the cp ignoring the squares and lines to get the base.
3. Collapse the squares.
4. Shape the model.
The purpose of this is to stretch the legs/head to get it longer. Here's how to collapse the squares you are talking about
This is the base.

Open the layers where the square is.

Bring the leg upwards and push the vertical crease out.

Continue bringing the leg up and start to squash the square.

Keep squashing the square.

Do this on the other side and you should have this:

Finished:

Hope this helps, sorry about the sloppy folding (I had to unfold it to get the photos)
