Just a note about quantity. Lafosse makes a batch of paper for his own use, and then generously sells the excess to the Origami community. Because of efficiencies, the cost of chemicals, etc., it is cheaper for him to make a larger batch than he needs.
He is also generous with his batch making technique and recipes, and a few people have taken the opportunity to learn how to make paper from him.
I don't know if this is the highest quality Origami in the world, but I haven't heard of anything better. Having said that, it is not the best paper for All models. But according to Michael, it has some interesting properties.
It is very good for wetfolding, it is strong, the colors do not run OR fade (I made a comment about fading a few years ago and was very politely corrected.), it is non-acid, archival - so it should not degrade or crumble after decades. And, because I was scared to ruin my expensive $8 frog paper, Michael assured me that if I folded the model and ... fouled it up, the I could simply re-wet it, unfold it, iron it out and re-use it with n significant degradation.... Try that with any other paper.
(However, Im still scared to use it....
So it's a matter of very high quality vs. quantity.
