Neorigami only takes your designs, so i'd have to do something else, probably using scratch (1st arf url) to get some pictures. I had already thought of this and i was already going to, so this will be no trouble but it might be a while before i get to a computer to do it.

OK, Can't wait!
Folder from Hønefoss, Norway. Pretty advanced, but I'm not that good at designing :P

It'll be at least the 31/05/ 2012 (or however you put the date) before anything can be uploaded. Sorry! :(

I've done scale tests, leg tests, head tests, and finally head-to-neck connection tests, and I feel ready to do a whole 2.1 now! Wish me luck!

I think I want to make the ryu zin 2.1 for a summer project. I have a whole pad of 19x24 inch tracing paper. After reading, I know that a 19x19 is way too small for my experience (the fact that only Shuki Kato and a few others made one that size is proof that it's not worth trying).
So now I have I have 2 options:
a) 23x23 with an inch of overlapping for double sided scotch tape (2 sheets taped)
b) around 45x45 inch with the double sided tape (4 sheets taped)
What size should I use?

And before I start folding it, is it worth isolating each part that seems challenging and do it on a different piece of paper?

I'd say go for it! I've been having a lot of fun working with the blue/red CP. And yes, it's a great idea to excerpt small sections and work on understanding how the different sections work. I might be able to help, but I gotta finish the one I'm doing!

Try to find larger paper before you settle on tracing paper. I'm working with 48" kraft and the head base is really thick!

Carsen, the biggest measurement would be best, as long as you can find tape that accepts folds really really well.

Currently I'm making a 2.1 using the same type of tracing paper you are using. Because the paper does not have perfect edges or angles I cut four sheets to a perfect 18 inch square and taped those four together using scotch tape with no overlap, this minimizes layers where there are many anyways - including tape) giving me a 36 inch square. This is the same way Shuki Kato did his Ryujin 3.5 (I asked him on his Flickr) I never did test folds, but I understand the all of the molecules, except maybe the head. Best of luck!

I don't think I can find any larger paper. I looked around and all I could find was 36" kraft. I can't use paper from websites like the origami shop because it takes too long to ship. I'm going to use the tracing paper.
Raptor, what kind of tape do you use? The common tapes, such as scotch, duct, and electrical, I feel wouldn't work that well.
I've decided that I'm going to do what Raptor did and will tape 4 pieces without any overlap.

As far as tape is concerned...
Well i've never needed tape like this before, so i'll go for process of elimination.

Duct- no, too heavy
Scotch-possible
Electrical-no idea what that is.
Also, masking tape accepts folds very well, as it is very papery.

masking tape. methylcellulose is the best overall though. not a tape.

Masking tape will quickly peel off, and become unsticky. I would agree on mythlcellulose. Why didn't I do that! #-o

Thanks for all the replies! After reading more posts on this topic I've decided that kraft is the way to go, not tracing paper. I found a couple of good options, but the material is recycled. Is the kraft paper you all are using recycled?

I found a 24" wide Kraft Shipping Wrapping Paper Roll. Its paper weight is 30, which means that it is about 51 gsm. Under the description it says that it is made from 100% recycled fibers. Do all of your Kraft papers say that?
The other option I have is a 36" wide Boardwalk Kraft Paper Roll. It has the same specifications as the other one except for being wider.
I'm going to mc two papers together for the ryu zin 2.1. Which paper should I get?
