Help with Kalei Anne Lundberg's paper Katana?

Post by Ulquiorra »

I'm generally stuck on steps 7 & 8, because I am not sure what is meant when it says to fold the two sections underneath into the top section, and am even more confused at number 8 when it says 'tube'... what tube? Thanks.

you have the eight column sections, yes? and you fold the two on the left to the right first, and you fold the three on the right to the left next. you should then be looking at only three columns, with the edge of the paper (what the diagram calls the "raw edge") showing only at the top left of the model.

step 7 is to lift the flap at that top left edge, take the two columns underneath that you folded in, and slide them under that flap. there should be a paper edge showing at the top left and the other paper edge running down the lower part, where the double ended arrows are showing.

this will sort of close the model and you'll be left with the "tube" - if you stand the model on end and open it up, it will make a rough circle.

Hi guys, I'm new here.
I didn't start a new topic because this one contains exactly the same question i want to ask.
Ironically, I understood step 7 right away but am still clueless about step 8 even after reading jadylyon's post.
8. Roll the tube over one section at a time and sharply crease. Twice.
Thanks to jadylyon, I came to understand what is meant by 'tube' but the rest is still driving me mad. Roll what onto what? Why crease twice? How come the raw edge remains only at the top after this step?

Maybe I picked this one too soon, I'm still very much a noob. But I would still like to give it a try.

Elrol, why are you bringing up topics that have lay dormant for four months? I'm happy you can make the model, but (a) showing off, (b) rubbing it in people's faces, and (c) needlessly bumping old topics is not helpful. If you're going to unnecessarily resurrect this old topic, you might as well answer Zig's question about step 8 since you can fold it so well.

Its like when you bring up help on a model that has been a "dead" topic and people answer it. No need to act mean.

Dammit, I still don't get it! :(

What do you need to do at step 8? It kinda sounds like just rolling it over and strengthening the creases, but the raw edge is marked differently! There's no raw edge in the bottom section, and the top looks as if the same place (as step 7) is marked but the arrow is on the other side. Sandwiched between layers? On the other side? Can't get my model to be anything close no matter how much i play with it. Would be cool if someone had made a video about this but I guess not a lot people get it :D
