Re: Introductions
Hello, everybody.
I`m Daniel Morita, an 18yo. guy from Brasil, who likes folding some paper during free time.
I`ve got some experience with complex models, and just started studying the basics of designing, but haven`t fold for 5 or 6 years now, so I`m hoping to make it up to the time I lost.
Hope to be useful for somebody here.
That`s all, folks.

Re: Introductions
Hi Daniel! This forum kind of got me started into origami from beginner level into intermediate, to wherever i am now, so it'll be easy enough to catch up!

Re: Introductions
Hi everyone!
I'm Liam, 18 years old, live in the U.K.
I study furniture making at university, did graphics at A level, having a fairly arty family (Sister is a great painter, mum used to work in a drawing office, dad was a structural engineer and we are all musical etc) and I've enjoyed having a bit of a play with origami since I was little but never anything that complex. Recently I discovered modular origami (probably a couple of months ago maybe?) which I loved and I did lots of it and from there I just kinda branched out a bit, tried some tessellations and now looking at more 3D models. Folded a few Robert Lang models and currently trying a few Kamiya Satoshi models as well.
I would LOVE to learn how to design, whether it's using tree maker or something like that or even just folding a piece of paper and it turning into something interesting.
Here's my tumblr blog: >> http://i-s-d-p.tumblr.com/ << That has some origami I've made as well as wood working and stuff I've made at college and lots of stuff from other people that I like!

Re: Introductions
I do love modular stuff but now I've started making more models from single sheets I find that to be honest, I can't be bothered to sit there and make 921383 of the same module these days aha. Definitely lean more towards 3D models at the moment. I guess that just adds to the admiration for people who do make amazing modular pieces though

Re: Introductions
I definitely agree on that post Liam. I haven't folded a modular for a long time for that reason...though that is a very specific number, I must say.
A tiny place to post my things. Enjoy~

Re: Introductions
It does get boring, although i never got into complex modular (or very complex) so the most i ever made was 33.

My own special designFlame_Kurosei wrote:though that is a very specific number, I must say.
I think the most I ever made was 90 modules. If someone else made all the modules for me then I would gladly put them together though

Re: Introductions
For one of the lectures I did at a college, I made every student fold 30 pieces of units out of business cards and we made a huge modular that still stands in the corner of our hall today.
It was nice because I didn't have to fold 3000 pieces of paper in a sitting.

Re: Introductions
I can imagine! Surely though, you'd get bored enough folding 30? Non-folders especially get bored after 3, i know from experience! It must have been worth it though- 3000 modules, who invented that?
