New to the forum. I can't believe I found an active origami community.

I've looked around and didn't find an answer to my specific question.

Page 42, steps 30 and 31 call for an elias stretch. I can't seem to get this step to come out cleanly. I've completed the model a number of times, but it always looks like my dog slept on it for a week.

I have never done a model with an elias stretch, but once I did my first CP (different model) the idea of what he wanted on this step became more clear. Maybe I'm missing some simple thing that makes this series of folds come together cleaner? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
