Re: Satoshi Kamiya - Ryu Zin (CP)
jeg er ikke norsk, men jeg liker norge og jeg skal være i vestfold i april neste år!
We should get together and have a Ryujin party!
You should make a Norway thread on the Clubs subforum. That way you can share locations on where to get good materials & such.

Great Idea Kareshi, And you already know me

Re: Satoshi Kamiya - Ryu Zin (CP)
Hi, I was just wondering how small a grid can you make the ryujin 2.1 on, I know about the '64', but can you go smaller. I have folded the 2.1 but there aren't any models that can prepare you for it, it's quite a leap and I think folders who can't yet fold the 2.1 would benefit from there being an easier one.
Re: Satoshi Kamiya - Ryu Zin (CP)
you can fold it from 48 - it's called "ryujin 1.0" (Rising Dragon)loganorigami wrote:Hi, I was just wondering how small a grid can you make the ryujin 2.1 on, I know about the '64', but can you go smaller. Re: Satoshi Kamiya - Ryu Zin (CP)
I was thinking of something with scales and more similar in structure to the later ryujins, but less time consuming and complex.

Re: Satoshi Kamiya - Ryu Zin (CP)
To prep for Ryujin 2.1 I folded several models each several times:
Kamiya's Loggerhead Sea Turtle; because it uses pattern as the scales (without 45*)
Kamiya's Spinosaurus; because it uses he same transition units.
Andrey Ermakov's Mantis Shrimp; to get used to working with large grids.
Chan's Flying Carp; to work with scales.

Re: Satoshi Kamiya - Ryu Zin (CP)
From your flickr, you understand the structure pretty well and just need a better head. So isolate the head section (32x32 can fit some neck scales in) and just work with that.loganorigami wrote:I was thinking of something with scales and more similar in structure to the later ryujins, but less time consuming and complex.

I've been folding the 2.1 again, here are my progress pics:
The square!

The collapsed model with scales in progress!

Not exactly a comprehensive progress pic guide, but it'll do

Hi! It's been a long while since I've been active on here. I deleted my Dropbox years ago, so some things, like my Dragonfly Varileg guide, are lost to time. I may still have other things, though! Email me if you have any questions.

Re: Satoshi Kamiya - Ryu Zin (CP)
About 80x80cm, it's been folding alright. The layers between the legs are pretty thick, at least 1cm, but it's manageable, I'm just using loads of Methyl Cellulose to hold everything together.

remember to put a wire inside, so you will be able to S-shape itftangdude55 wrote:About 80x80cm, it's been folding alright. The layers between the legs are pretty thick, at least 1cm, but it's manageable, I'm just using loads of Methyl Cellulose to hold everything together.

Re: Satoshi Kamiya - Ryu Zin (CP)
after few months I managed to precrease everything and glue all pieces of paper together
folding so big piece is much harder than I expected (largest sheet I ever was working on before was 1.05m x 1.05m).
I hope I finish it before the end of the world on 21.12.2012!

3m x 5m ? It'll be big enough to eat you for lunch! Keep up with the progress pictures.

It is "only" 288cm x 288cmHankSimon wrote:3m x 5m ? It'll be big enough to eat you for lunch! Keep up with the progress pictures.
