Did you manage to 'fold' the stars?

I could not understand the instructions!

I´ve found a staw-star instruction like the one mentioned above about two years ago somewhere on the internet but had the problem, that all available staws I could get where too short to succeed. Maybe I should try it again with this instruction now...

I used to make a lot of these when I was at school. You can use normal length drinking straws if you join 2 together - just squash the end of one into the other, and make sure the overlapping portion isn't more than about 1cm or it will make the middle of your star bulge due to the thickness.

After making a dozen or so your fingertips will hate you! But if you manage to find pretty-coloured straws, the end result is quite nice. :)

i've made some of these!
There really nice, the centre looks like a rose, it has a "swirl" in the middle but the whole thing is a star! really cool too. I can teach you if u wanted:)

Heinz Stroebl showed (and I don't know wheteher he was the first one), that by taking a rectangle and making a knot (by folds), actually makes a near-perfect pentagon. I think these stars are based on that theory.
