Robert Lang's Samurai beetle
I have a problem with Lang's Surai beetle in Origami Insects 2. Step 3. Where are the reference points? I have no idea what Lang means in this step. There needs to be at least 2 reference points but he does not even show it. So I have no idea how much to fold. It's not even a 45 degree angle so that is out of the question. I love lang diagrams. so confusing

I have not folded this model, but it looks like there are two refence points. For each fold, there is the refence at the existing marks (1/4 marks I presume). Also, the top right and bottom left corners must touch the edge of the paper.

I folded it, and it is more complex to be explained in words than to be done.
Let's take the crease going up-left -> down-right. The point on the right is clearly at 1/4 of the side, marked in the previous step. You need to make a crease that passes through it and puts the top-right corner of the square on the bottom (lower) side of the square. Then unfold it.
