I need help with a t-rex

Post by weirdalison »

So I got bored the other night and started making a bunch of origami stuff using diagrams I found on the internet. I got stuck on this t-rex

http://dev.origami.com/images_pdf/tyran ... s_baby.pdf

I'm stuck on steps 4 and 5. It seems like a step has been left out or something maybe. I think it's telling me to fold that flap over on step 4, but I do not end up with anything that looks like the picture on step 5. Can someone help me out with this?

hmm.... well... if you don't know what a squash fold is, you should probably begin with something easier?
if you'd like to google, step 4 is a squash-fold and step 5 is a petal-fold.

you could also download Peter Budai's basic folds guide
http://peterbudai.tripod.com/
look under BASICS -> DOWNLOAD FOLDS
it should give you a good introduction into the basic folding procedures.

oh sweet. thanks. i made some hard stuff last night. i ended up having to look up what all the different folds were and stuff. sometimes it's just hard to tell from the pictures what it wants me to do. it seems so obvious now.

well, i've run into a new problem. on step 18 where you're supposed to fold over that little triangle. i can't do it because it's attached to the other triangle on the other side. i keep going over and over the directions and it seems like i have done everything right. other than that, the thing looks like it's supposed to. all the right creases in all the right places. it's just that that triangle isn't split in two like it's supposed to be. i don't get it.

edit: oh never mind. i got it

Well the names of the folds are quite self-explanatory, so you just need an intro. Actually you've probably figured a few out on instinct already.
