Lang's praying mantis help

Post by emberjelly »

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could help me with Lang's Praying Mantis from Origami Insects and their Kin steps 39-52.

I know it's a lot of steps but I just can't seem to be able to get anywhere with them before my paper is all half unfolded and crumpled or ripped.

Thanks,

Jerry

Hi, try this topic:

EDIT: OHH... I'm truly sorry . My copy/paste is giving me headaches lately. For some reason, it doesn't always copy what I want! AND, of course, I didn't double check what was pasted here! Link should be correct now.

True, and also very funny.

As for your problem, the steps should be pretty clear to me. The only thing you should try is to open the model whenever you need to sink. Appart from that, if it still doesn't work, start the model over with a larger square since you say taht yours is already crumpled and such.

1)Fold a frog base.

2) Using the centre point, skip to those steps.

3) Start with the largest piece of paper you have.

4) Repeat 20 times.

5) It will then be second nature.

6) Now go back to the model, and do it for real.

That's how I figured it out. Or, you could get 'Origami insects 2' and fold a far better mantis, with a much less fiendish sequence.
I once set up an origami PLC. But the business folded.
