23 roses bouquet -which one would you advice?

Post by bozar »

Hi
I want to make a birthday gift for my girlfriend, so I decided I will give her a rose bouquet. I was searching the net, trying to find a diagram for 23 flowers in a bouquet and to be honest - I haven't found anything matching my criteria:/
the bouquet has to be made from roses and it has to 'stay still' while holding, not only in the vase.
have you got any suggestions?
is a diagram for complete bouquet (not for single flowers)?

ps - I fold from time to time..

Hi! I love origami flowers and I found, due to an advice of a member of this forum, a fantastic page in which you can find an easy diagram for an amazing flower. The page is: http://www.fukuyama-th.hiroshima-c.ed.jp/oribara/. It's in chinese, but you only have to push the button above (the one with a 1).

With that you have the flower and in this other page you can find the calyx, leaf and stem.

http://www.geocities.com/foldroses/

I don't use paper for the stem, I use wired wrapped with plaster. I know this is not origami but it helps you to make fantastic bouquets and they will last forever. I also cover the stem, leaf and calyx with white glue to give them some consistence.

It's a horrible job, but at the end, the result is incredible!!!

[If you send me your email address i can send you an example, because I don't know how to put photos here.]

polomeque, look here:

As for the flowers search on YouTube for Origami rose or Origami flower and you will get some videos explaining how to fold roses and other flowers.

thanks for the replays!
the point is, I know I to fold a single flower, I would like to know how to fold a whole bouquet?
I dont think that it will be that simple like folding single roses and putting them togather:/

You want all the flowers from one sheet right?
Well, there is a Kawasaki rose crystallization...pretty much a tessellation of Kawasaki roses. You couldn't get 23 from a square, but you could get 25. I think I found a CP with comments online.

That said, I think folding a bouquet of 23 flowers from a single sheet of paper is madness-you would need like a meter squared paper (depending if you want stems or not) to get good sized flowers. If i were you, I would fold individual flowers.

I have Kawasaki's Roses, Math and Origami, and it has two really classic, good flowers and leaves too. I have used tissue foil to make a stem(from rectangle), flower, and rose. It came out pretty nice, and the tin foil made it relatively rigid.

thanks again guys!
I didn't make myself clear:)
For the whole time I was thinking about making every flower from the separate sheet. Im worried if I put every single flower composing a bouquet sth can goes wrong. Stem can be to delicate, or to short or anything else.
So Im asking if anyone has done a bouquet before?
Do you suggest Kawasaki's roses? or maybe there is a special diagram for roses which are going to be combined into a bouquet?:)

If you are worried that the stem wouldn't hold to the flowers, I can only recommend you to use non-Origami methods, for example inserting wire into the stem and make a small loop at the end to insert into the flower, this way they are securely locked together.

On the other hand, if I remember right, the stem/calyx part in polomeque's post does hold together really well.
There are also one sheet flowers (stem and flower is one part) around but they are fairly complex and it would surely last a while until you finish 23 of them.
If you aren't sticking to paper, there is a very nice tissue rose with stem and leaf that is easy to make and looks great. A video can be found on YouTube.

I made some vases full of flowers during the last years. One was made from the flowers with stem and leaf from David Collier and a vase by Katrin and Yuri Shumakov, another one with a mixture of Kawasaki Roses (old) and traditional tulips,...
