Ancient Dragon type 2

Post by origami93 »

Well ... I was trying to fold the Ancient Dragon type 2 yesterday night. I got all the precreasing done and everything, and that took me like 2 hours. It was 11. I decided to try collapsing it.

After a while of trying, I looked at the clock and it was 12:30! And I still haven't gotten anywhere! I really need some help on this one. I have no clue how to even start collapsing it ...

Are you folding from CP? Is there a link? I'm not familiar with 'type 2'...

Are you referring to this Bahamut?

Well, from looking at it I would guess to fold the pleats first, then collapse it from the middle outward. That is a pretty basic approach, but just to make sure...

Oh, that's right. The CP looks similar to the regular Ancient Dragon, but simpler. I'm guessing it starts the same way too then. Start with the feet.

Talking about folding the anicent dragon, will it be easier to fold it by folding the CP? or it would be easier to fold by following the digrams (i.e. the folding steps).

I have previously folded it once by following the diagram. However, as the paper get thicker (because of multiple layers), it is quite difficult to fold the details. Also, the part of the paper for the dragon wings has so many folded lines it does not look too good. (Is this my own problem?)

Well, you should still fold it from the CP, but the diagrams will give you clues as to the order of the creases, and generally how it should look. I haven't checked to see if their proportions are the same, so you can't count that they are identical in the beginning.

If you're having issues with thick paper, then you should use thinner (but strong!) paper. Tissue foil would work great for this model, as would MC coated. Even a large sheet of Kraft paper would do fine. The parts that are thickest are the fingers and the head (mouth and horns). They make look intimidating but as long as you have good paper, they're actually simple to fold.
