How have you come to Origami

I'm new to this forum and don't know, if this was alked already (if it was, I'm sorry), but I think it's an interesting subject. I first read about origami when I was about 14 years old (I'm now 23) in a kid's magazine named "Flohkiste" (which means Fleabox; stupid name, I know).

There was an article about origami and the Diagram for an arrow-shaped Bookmark. There were also some recommendations for books for beginners. I buyed one of the book and folded and folded (The crane was one of my favourites, that I folded out of every paper, that wasn't needed, so a friend of mine thought of raising fees for the paper I used, when I was at his home). After finishing this book I had a break for some years.

When I was about 18 I found a book by John Montroll, that made me fold again. After that, I bought some more books by John Montroll, but after entering University I had so much to do with my studies, that I didn't have that much time and have just recently begun to fold again. It's quite astonishing to think that I already do origami for about 10 years.

Well, I started folding origami when I was 5, and I still remember the first thing I ever folded was a crane. I just kept folding until I found CPs in Langs website when I was about 10. Now I fold many things from a small bird to a Dragon!

i dont really remember when i started...all i know is that one of my brothers hobbies were origami and i decided to follow him and make some origami too =)
i found the crane too. and i started making so many times...
i feel like i might want to make 1000 cranes LOL
it takes too long though....well all im 'pro' at is bieng able to make the crane cos i know how to do it blindfolded... yay thats cool just for me =)
other than that, ive been folding stuff with my older brother but hes now a computer nerd and i just do stuff from books that he bought online like 'Brilliant Origami' by david brill and 'origami for the connioseur' by kawasaki or someone else...

I had the infant liking of folding paper airplanes, and once i went to buy an airplanes book i found a origami dinosaurs book (Now i know it was actually a pirate version of a montroll book). They werent more expensive than 10 pesos (1 dollar), so i took them both. A year later, i guess, i found the book "Seres de ficcion" by mario adrados and anibal voyer. Since then, i havent stopped.
Funny. My first model was Tyrannosaurus by John Montroll, I guess its intermediate. It wasnt until i finished voyer's book that i folded my first crane and my first pajarita.

my career start on Origami is a little bit weird. When I was about 16 I read a lot of comic books and sometimes I bought a comic book blind to discover something new. I stumbled on a issue called "Sandman Mystery Theater", this was about a man living in New York in the 1930's who solved crimes behind the back of the police wearing a gasmask. Everytime he solved a crime he left an Origami folding behind to let the police know he was the one who solved the crime. Before this comic I had little knowledge about Origami but after reading that comic book I borrowed some books in the library and before I knew it I folded several simple models. I never stopped folding after that.

My sister got an origami kit years back. She didn't really use it too much, so I picked it up. The rest just clings on.

I was 8 years old, and bought 'Origami Sea Life' by John Montroll and Robert Lang. You can imagine how stressful that was.

I started origami two years ago. It was summer and fortunately I had nothing to do. I had been interested in paper airplanes and I liked paper models that were able to move. I ordered jeremy shafers book off of amazon and began to fold. Then I ordered origami insects from there...

I started, evidently, 3 years ago, though i really think i started when i was about eight, im 14 now, but id been interested for a long time, since my mom bought me the classic origami lily, and i tried to figure out how it worked for 2 years... now im a high intermediate folder, maybe advanced i havent really tried any of those.

The first thing I ever folded was an origami crane in my third grade art class. I was hooked ever since although I just dabbled in it and didn't get really seriously into it until I was in high school and discovered the wonderful world of origami via the internet. It's a beautiful thing.

It started for me when I was eight. A Japanese woman came to our class and taught us about her culture. One of the things she showed us was how to fold the fortune teller (you know, fold a blintz base, turnover fold another blintz, turnover, fold out flaps.) I was amazed that something like that could be made from a simple square of paper. I used some allowance money to buy a book on origami (which I still have) and folded everything in it. Been hooked ever since, almost 20 years later!

I began folding just a few months ago, really. I'm a teacher's aide, and we folded bats at Halloween. She expanded the lesson to include windmills and water-bombs, and I was hooked. I immediately started looking online for diagrams, especially after one of the students folded a crane. I've been searching the Internet for various diagrams, so any websites you have to share would be appreciated!!

My first model was a waterbomb, my mum taught me and i was like "wow". Then my god-sister taught me the simple kawasaki rose, thats when i started to fully like origami...

Well about 2 - 3 years ago this kid in my school started making these origami frogs which i thought were terrible and i had made loads of different paper airplanes before. So i folded a crane and i just couldn't stop foldintg after that.

Almost every child in the Czech republic folded steamboat, colorchanger, plane from A4, it is folk-memory. So every Czech is origamist.
