Question: Using Large Paper for KAMIYA's Ancient Dragon

I'm folding this model right now using two sheets of tissue paper glued together with MC. It hasn't ripped so far (I'm at about step 182). The hardest part was gluing together the sheets so that they didn't end up with a bunch of crinkles.

I really dont use glue for tissue foil. I use tape.

Yes. the tape has to be the cheapest brand you can buy it is called magic tape.

Tape sounds kind of thick...
I will use tape on the inside of a model to fix/strengthen it if it rips, but covering the entire paper with tape sounds a bit much.

Also, I have a question:
If you glue two pieces of tissue paper together using methyl cellulose, If you try wetfolding, will the two pieces fall apart?

Fall apart as in separate? Or fall apart as in disintegrate as tissue paper does when wet? If you get it too wet, the whole thing may get trashed as tissue paper usually does. But the two sheets definitely won't separate.

I do not tape the hole paper. I just tape around the edges, and wet folding tissue foil will only ruin the paper because the water will go through the paper and stay in place by the foil instead of being obsorbed.

Thanks Jared, I thought that if the methyl cellulose was water soluable, then the two papers would fall apart. I guess they won't. I'll have to make that double tissue paper sometime.

for steps 84-86 i find them fairly easy, what i do for the side you see in the diagrams is pull the tip of the leg to corner, so in step 85 pull that foot to the right corner. when you do this you can spread squash the the part you need to sink. don't actually do a spread squash though, spread it onto the creases you pre-creased. the model won't lay flat when you do this

Double tissue paper is good to be wetfolded in the end on specific parts like thin legs, antennae, or something like that. The paper can be made really really thin, strong and keeps this form forever.

hey does anyone knwo where i can botain tissue paper? i have 125 squares of large origami paper (9inches) and im amking ok models out of that mostly anibal voyers but soon i will want to attempt kamiyas dragon adn i do not know where to locate the tissue paper best used. i live in england, london, acton. anyone near know where the nearest place i can buy it from as i do not want to go blundereing in.

you use tape? i find i can never use tape or the models will become to thick and not manageble
