Thirds

Hi folks,

I want to teach to my students the division in thirds and the 30 and 60 degree folds. I know the methods, I'm looking for some model, simple and nice, to do after this prefolding.
Someone has a suggestion?

About the division in thirds, maybe you could teach them the Kissy fish but you would have to accomodate the diagrams. Ask them to do the division in thirds and then go to step 10 of these diagrams http://www.itsjustabitofpaper.com/diagramsindex001.html It is a nice action model that kids love.

About the 30 and 60 degree folds, all I can think are tessellations but they are not exactly what kids want to fold.

ryuzin 3.5 has a 96x96 grid but when you divide it intil the grid is a prime number it is a 3x3 grid.

Peterpaul Forcher's Esel (donkey) also requires thirds although not along the side but along the diagonals so I am not sure if it serves you. The diagram used to be online but I couldn't find it.

A lot of stuff in Origami Inside-Out is based on division of angles in thirds, like the Canada Goose and Penguin...
