Bellflower Kikyou

Post by spike »

I have a problem with the following diagram:
http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Gulf/994 ... lower1.gif

Going on to step 3 to 14, it says to make a bird base, but on picture 14, it doesn't look like a bird base?! a bird base is not like this triangle, isn't it?

what am i doing wrong?
it would be very nice if you would help me out!

OK, that's very very interesting. I don't have the slightest clue what the steps 3-13 should be for (making the bird base), afterwards you do not need them any more.
Just make steps 1 and 2, then rotate the paper 180° and continue with step 14. Your target is to create a pentagon (step 22). If you by any chance should have precut pentagonal paper you could skip those steps as well.
The real folding process for the flower begins with step 22.
Good luck!

I would skip to step 22 where you are at the pentagon I don't understand how the beginning steps are relevant to this model at all. Here is a diagram on how to get a pentagon from a square :

Yeah, I really don't know why they have you making a bird base or how they get to a 'diaper fold'....has anyone ever heard of a 'diaper fold' before????

Yes I have. It's just folding the paper in half diagonally.

Here's an easier ( imo ) way to get a pentagon or a decagon :

That diagram makes absolutely no sense at all. Why would you want to fold the bird base first, only to move on with a diaper fold?

:edit: I just noticed it's the same way they use in the diagrams, but it's always nice to have this in PDF form aswell, I suppose.
