The leaves aren't exactly the same as phu's still. They're pretty close to his new ones though.

As for the stem it's just a twisted piece of paper.

Those leaves aren't anything like Phu's. They're Kawasaki's.

The ones in the picture I posted of the one e-mo posted?? The ones in the picture I posted are Phu's that's a break down of his rose showing the calyx, leaves, and bloom folded by Michael Sanders.

EDIT: Nevermind it appears that e-mo deleted the link. But phu has two versions of 'leaves'

Well, the old leaves are definitely different. Those are made from an inverted bird base. Phu asked that his leaves not be taught. Reverse-engineering was okay though.

As for his new leaves, I thought they were just a cleaned up version of the old ones. Now that I look at them again, they look very similar to Kawasaki's.

hm...I didnt remove any links....plus, I dont know which link you are talking about I did post a link in another thread, as that other thread was about the leaves....

according to phu's leafs...I think he decided for the new leafs because they are more realistic to the real ones. His old leafs looks good, but they dont look like original rose leafs...nevertheless, I still want to know how to do them so in case anyone knows..please advise...

I manage to close the rose now....and I think it is really also a matter of choosing the paper. If that paper is too thick..all the edges will mount together and the rose wont look so nice and it will result pretty difficult to close the rose.
Blossom accomplished...but now I am looking for a good calyx. I found several ones on youtube...but I dont like them somehow... can anyone suggest something else?

here I am, with the pitcrures I hope it will help you.

how it looks like at the end:

Imagine it was straight okie:

Do the valleyfold and it should look like that:

Then fold the top left leave down and make sure a triangle shows up like on this picture:

Then fold the small "piece" to the left:

Afterwards, fold now the right leaves down, which will result like this:

I have done a simpler version of it here:



For that I skipped the Dan of Toaster directions and made a bird base then did Ron Yu's twist. Then I continued with the rest of my directions to get the point. But instead of sticking the point into the rose I flip the model over and there are still flaps to twist into the rose and then you have the point to attach a stem to.
