Great rose, might be helpful for you!

Post by Sebyfrog »

Hey,
I found this website yesterday, with a very good rose variation (CP + Videos) and I did not find a link for it on the rose topic. Maybe you might want to paste the link in there.

Reminds of phu tran's rose.

I made one and the result is stunning.

Enjoy :D

(If this link is already on the website, feel free to delete this topic!!!)

That's Phu Tran's rose! Even the video is the same at youtube, using the CP to fold it... so bad.

Please Remove link

If a moderator is reading this, please remove the link to the website that is illegally distributing instruction to my rose. It is this kind of disrespect and illegal distribution of unauthorized diagrams of my rose that have turn me away from origami. Where people praise the thieves and blame me for not sharing my creation. It is this kind of disrespect that keep me from wanting to publish a book to share my creations. Until I see some respect that I deserve will I release a book.

What other creations do you have? I have never seen a gallery of yours.

Hm, looking at the CP, it looks completely different from the one that was distributed earlier and acknowledged to be the original. So if this is your rose, why did we have to remove the links to the other CP? And if this isn't your rose I see no reason to remove the link.

I don't understand some stuff...

1.- The video only shows how to collapse a CP. There are a lot of them showing how to collapse other creators models, but the only one that disrespects somebody is the one about "your" rose, because it shows how to collapse the CP that you put at your website and later you removed because people was folding it.

¡How crazy!... people folding public CPs...

2.- If you don't want anybody folding your model, why do you publish a CP? Maybe to annoy us every time that someone writes "Phu Tran" at the forum?

3.- About disrespect, aren't you liying to us saying "your creation"? while this nothing but a modification of the kawasaki rose. Shouldn't you give credit to Mr. Kawasaki?

4.- And about your complaints about copyrights, are you planning to publish a book with models based on other authors work without giving any credit or paying any fee to them?

Could somebody explain this to me?

Thanks in advance.

Here is a link to the gallery: http://photos.yahoo.com/hunprat

I think it is okay to post, since hunprat posted it before. I especially like the vase that is used with the flowers. It looks great!

The person making the video could have at least given attribution to the designer. Would have been nice to seek the creator's permission as to whether or not a "how to" video would receive his blessings. Isn't this at least common courtesy?

Phu shared the cp openly just as he was willing to teach anyone his rose design. This was before someone here decided to draw up and distribute self-made diagrams after Phu had asked him not to.
3.- About disrespect, aren't you liying to us saying "your creation"? while this nothing but a modification of the kawasaki rose. Shouldn't you give credit to Mr. Kawasaki?
Phu has given Kawasaki due credit; while folders like yourself who seem irked by Phu wanting to protect his work, seem to lash out at him by minimizing his "modification" of the kawasaki rose and putting into parentheses, "your creation". It's the height of disrespect on your part. Because he's no longer willing to openly share his design, folders such as yourself feel the need to trash the artist by trashing the design (saying it's nothing more than a mere modification of a kawasaki; if that's the case, quit coveting it so much and be happy with folding a Kawasaki, which are fine, perfect designs all unto themselves). What design isn't in a sense, a "modification" of previous works? Everyone builds upon the technology and techniques explored by artists who came before them. Phu's rose incorporates the Kawasaki twist-fold method to get the cylindrical shape; but from there, I think the similarities end; throw into that, the calyx and leaf design and you have a pretty original creation.

I found that video long time ago searching for "Phu Tran rose". These words appeared at video title, that's more credit than he is giving to Kawasaki.

That's not true. Phu got angry after somebody draw a diagram, not before. He knew about the diagram when people started asking for that at the forum, and then he started a flame war. After that, the guy who draw these diagrams is not sharing them anymore to avoid people getting angry.

Not only the twist fold, the soul of the model, but the way the rose is closed is the same as kawasaki rose version 2.

He only changed the angle of the model to get longer petals, and added some little folds to them.

Great idea, of course, and a very beautiful model, but a discussion with non sense.

What if someone who learn the model directly from the creator teach it to someone? Should he or her be put in jail? Because in that case I should be sent there for teaching other people how to fold the Hsi-Hua fish, for instance...

Regards.

not to add to the fire...

even if the cp is not exactly the phu tran rose, it's pretty close. granted, the cp of the phu tran rose is very close to the kawasaki rose, but that's another can of worms.

given the ill will engendered by this subject (more than any other subject in any other forum i participate in, actually), it seems the prudent thing to do is to delete the link, make a mention of the matter in the rose FAQ, and then do our best to forget the subject altogether until phu tran releases his own book, if ever.[/i]

Notefolds...thanks to the link to Phu Tran's gallery.

I think everyone should visit and see the variety of spectacular works he has to offer a future publication...

His works are great, and would be nice if he publishes a book with all of them... including his rose with stem, leaves and calix, of course...

I hope he could understand that we only want to fold his models and not to disrespect him, so he releases his book as soon as possible.
