origami english project!

Just thought Id share this.

For my senior english project, we have to marry our passion to something we did in class. Since my passion is origami, I decided to do an origami version of a scene from Dante's Inferno. I am going to depict the scene from the pit of the grafters, where a demon holding a pitchfork is torturing shades (the people occupying hell) by grabbing the ones that try to escape the pit of hot tar and throwing them back in. I am designing a demon and a human for this project, then folding several humans.

Im thinking of boxpleating the human and using a terry-ish approach to the demon, with 22.5 angles.

Sorry, Im a bad photographer. I havent had much practice with a camera. I also dont own photoshop or any other image editing software to fix it in easily. These are better than some other pictures Ive done though! I would practice then take more, but i have to turn it in tomorrow, and I'll probably let my teacher have it.

Im sure that once i get around to folding the ryuzin my picture quality will go up! especially if i need a lot of help.

It's a little hard to make out what I'm seeing in the pictures, but from what I can tell it looks pretty awesome.
3D stereo-photos might be good to help us see it better.

To make a stereo-photo, take one photo of the scene, and then shift the camera to the left by maybe an inch (or a couple of cm) and take a second photo.

If you then put the two images side by side, you can cross your eyes and view it in 3D.

You said you don't have any image editing software, so if you just upload the two photos I can shrink them down and put them side by side as one image for you.

Thanks for offering to help, but I dont have the project anymore. It is currently the property of my english teacher. Would it be possible to take the same picture twice, then move one slightly to the left?

To get the 3d effect you have to have a slightly different angle between the camera and the scene for the two photos.
It works the same way as human vision. If you look at a scene and close one eye, and then change to the other eye you'll see that things shift a little. Things close to you appear to move sideways a bit in relation to things farther away.

Well, Ill definetly remember that next time I take pictures. I might get some sort of editing program next year when I go to college (depending on price and stuff)

There are free image editing programs.
The GIMP is a free program that does the same job as Photoshop, and Inkscape is a free vector image program similar to Illustrator.

Also, you can find more info about stereograms (the 3D pictures I was talking about), on Wikipedia.

IrfanView is also free and by far the most used of all my image editing programs. It is really useful to crop and edit pictures and it is my default program to open most kinds of pictures. There are also some useful plugins that allow you for example to view pdf files (in very poor quality).

I have a non-free program called Thumbs Plus that I use for cropping, converting between formats and so on. I guess InfranView is the free equivalent to that.

Re: 3D Effect

When you get some 3D photos, you can plug them into a toy program like this one: http://home.roadrunner.com/~hanksimon/3dMovie.html to see the 3D effects.

With a little program tweaking, you can change the speeds.
