Recently, I have been delving into the world of design, and have successfully created my first technical design. 8)
The design was partially based on this picture.

Beetle

From tissue foil.

Image

it's not the best picture, but oh well. You get the gist of it. :)

I have made a CP for it, for you to evaluate and comment on, perhaps even make a suggestion on how I can up the efficiency a bit (I would really like to, but I don't know how! :? )

Here is the link to the CP.

I am open to suggestions! :)

Hi! It's been a long while since I've been active on here. I deleted my Dropbox years ago, so some things, like my Dragonfly Varileg guide, are lost to time. I may still have other things, though! Email me if you have any questions.

Yeah, that CP looks really clean and neat.
I can't really suggest anything to change about it.
The only thing I'd say is in the shaping you might be able to get the head to look a bit more rounded.

Congratulations on your first design. Very nice!

One of the best beetles I have ever seen! However, it is visibly crumpled. Is it you crumpling the paper, or is it just the fibre. Also, beetle's do't have legs connected to their head, in fact it is mainly connected to the upper thorax

In the picture he used as template it looks as if the leg would be attached to the head. The same is true for every other dogbane beetle picture I found in a quick search.

Well, thanks for all the comments. :) Makes me feel good about myself.

The reason I was asking about upping the efficiency was because by the time I had finished, the area at the base of the antennae was incredibly thick. I was looking for a way to minimize the thickness.

Spiritofcat: Due to the thickness, the head is impossible to be rounded.

Origami_8: Precisely.

Legionzilla: If it is crumply, then I shall refold! And if the refold is crumply, then I shall fold it again! And if that one is crumply... Well, you get the idea.

Origamimasterjared: Why thank you! :)

They are done! :)
But, I have decided not to release them, for my own reasons.
I can PM you the link, though. And I have. :)

Yay! Of course I can fold from CP . Your model is actually a lot simpler than I thought. I'll make sure to try it out. Keep it up with your designs!

I have decided to (try to) design a Giraffe Weevil (Wikipedia article here).
I am going to give a shot at box pleating this time. 8)
Let's see what happens.

That is an odd looking bug  but i like it lol. Good luck with it ftangdude55. If you felt like it, you could end up making two different models: the male and the female model, because the only difference between them would be the length of the neck and i assume that would just be a small adjustment to the proportions of the body

EDIT: a color change for the back would be pretty sweet, making it even more realistic :D
