Help me please: Tripartite folds

I also thought you would get those everywhere. How can you live without them? I have a whole bunch of them in two different sizes and I use them nearly every day.

I don't really know how to divide into thirds, only doing it well when it comes to dividing a square. Does this protractor thingy help in like dividing a 22.5 degree angle into 3?

@origami_8 and TheRealChris: Protractors in the United States (and maybe Canada too?) are made as a half circle, instead of a triangle.

I don't know why.

No joke! We also only have the impractical semi-circular protractors, and I've never seen one in the UK that also integrates a ruler, or carries the degree markers so efficiently to the edges.

The Protractor/Set Square Combo - you'd have to special order that here.
Far more practical than our rounded versions.

A ruler would just be nice. I finally found a way to fold trisecting angles.

Though since, like I said, I don't bring a ruler all the time, would it be possible for a technique to make tripartite pleats? I'm not talking about the whole paper. Just a small portion. Estimating is what I do now, but it's not working well for me.

Like I said before I always guess the distance and most of the time it's very accurate.

For those interested, I just found a little program that projects a set square on the screen: http://www.markus-bader.de/MB-Ruler/index.htm
Could be useful to measure angles on Crease Patterns and the like.

Just for giggles, I decided to look for this type of protractor over the weekend. Found in the first shop I visited.

So yeah, it's definitely available outside of Germany and Austria...

Not been able to find one in the UK, yet.
I see from the packaging that your version was also made in Austria; TheRealChris' was German, so I expect that region is where this type of protractor originated, is commonplace there, and as it is so good has been readily exported. The UK is still in the geometric dark ages though.
I will go to a huge Office World tonight. I'm obsessed... by a protractor!
